Don't stop believing...
Today, February 4, 2025, is #WorldCancerDay. This year approximately 10,000,000 - 13,000,000 souls around the world will die from cancer, a forecast that increases yearly.
In a beautiful world full of innovation, wonder and opportunity: providing advances in all areas of health, technology, and lifestyle, we cannot deny, cancer (over 100 different kinds) impacts all of our lives. If current World Health Organization estimates are correct, by 2030 over 13,000,000 souls will die annually (it was 10,000,000 in 2020). Frustrated that too many questions are unanswered, we fear that we, or someone we love could be affected at any time. We live in a time where money (having it or not) determines if we will survive. We mourn children who will never flourish, yet try their best to smile as they are wheeled into therapy, their bodies ravaged by these diseases.
DON’T GIVE UP!
Your support, whether through donations, investments in research, caring for a loved one who cannot support themselves, raising your own awareness and changing your life to avoid the risks, studying to become a doctor or researcher focused on the field…anything, all of it is invaluable. Throughout all that pain and anguish, some feel it will never change...in the meantime, many others study and research the disease, they develop therapies and treatments, provide support and raise awareness...they don't lose hope. They search tirelessly for the light at the end of the tunnel, fight to advocate for the good and for progress...they don't lose hope.
As we take a minute to reflect on #worldcancerday, think about all of the effort, time, and resources fighting to win this war on our lives. They are helping people live longer so they can:
Be there for their kid’s graduation,
Be there to attend the beautiful wedding,
Be there to finish their degree,
Be there to experience the wonders the world has to offer,
Be there to discover the cures…
Be there.
... and for those fighting to live, you know your heart, your suffering, whether you survive or not, know that you are loved and supported. Know that there are those fighting so your pain doesn't have to be anyone else's suffering. The only way to beat this scourge, is to band together, however we can, give what we can and hold that space inside our hearts. That space that holds the belief that someday more will triumph over this disease.
